In a week where the Tech World converged at the Web Summit for a global gathering, we at hosted our own little web gathering with our online community of pet-lovers — Our live Q & A Facebook event with Joe the vet was a roaring success. A huge thank you to Joe for giving his time and expertise. For anyone based in Cork, Joe is contactable at

You can read all the fascinating questions and, more importantly, the answers, here (

We were amazed at the sheer amount of contributors, and the diverse range of questions from health-related (regarding various ailments and conditions to post-op problems), nutrition (including how to deal with allergies and bland diet requirements), and exercise, to behavioural issues.

This gave us great insight into what you as pet owners would like expert advice on. And while, naturally, a lot of advice was asked for regarding medical conditions, it was interesting to note a number of questions revolved around behavioural issues. And it got us thinking…..we should host a series of online events with professionals from different disciplines, starting with a dog training & behavioural specialist, and then maybe moving onto grooming. We know that Joe the Vet will be a hard act to follow, but we’re sure some brave souls will give it a go!

We would love for you, our pet-loving followers, to take the lead in this online series. Please let us know what topics you would be interested in by emailing Hilary on

In the meantime, The Association of Pet Dog Trainers Ireland (APDT Ireland) has lots of good information on dog training and behaviour to whet your appetite for next off the rank.
